This afternoon during speech the fire alarm went off. Igor was scared, this was his first experience with a fire alarm in a building. His teacher and I quickly explained that there might be a fire so we needed to leave the building. While I was gathering our things Igor took off running. He hated the sound of the alarm and was very confused. Thankfully his speech teacher was right on his heels. When I arrived outside Igor was crying, he dislikes loud noises (unless it's music) and likes routine and this was not routine. He settled down enough to ask "why it makes that loud noise" and "who's going to call 911"! His speech teacher and I tried to reassure him that everything was going to be all right. The fire fighters came to check out the building, it was a false alarm.
The rest of the day Igor was very concerned; would there be a fire at our house, would there be another fire at speech, what is inside of fire, fire can hurt you...... It was an emotional day. Igor was still scared at bedtime. When he prayed he asked God to keep him safe from the fire. He normally tells me, "you go mom" after I tuck him in. Tonight he held onto my hand as he fell asleep.

Oh Candy, I bet that was scary for him! That loud noise is enough to drive me crazy. Your previous post about the sign was so funny...Mr. Independent, but then this one shows that he still needs Mom. What a cutie!

Oh! Igor sounds like such a precious, little boy. I love your stories about him - he's about the same age as my son, Eben. They're so big & brave & independent sometimes, but then they're so tender and remind us of how little they really are at other times! Motherhood is such a gift!
Igor might like to visit a firehouse sometime and visit with the people who help keep us safe & put out fires.

Thank you for your note on my blog. We are REALLY seeking the Lord....we are looking right now at Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine...and God has not closed the door to domestic. There are just SO many choices. I would appreciate ANY information you have. What agency did you use? Did you love your Russia experience?

Candy, Hi, it's Shari from YG :) I almost cried reading your post about Igor and the fire alarm. Each one of my boys was TERRIFIED when they did the preschool fire alarm... Sam has never done preschool so his first experience was at a hotel in Moorehead a few weekends ago-- you should have seen the eyes pop out of his head!!! As a mom, you just ACHE to see the fear in them-- even though YOU know they are safe :) Be Blessed.
